Afternoon Tea by the Sea

We attended a lovely birthday party recently and afterwards we decided to spend an hour or two at the nearby hotel for an afternoon tea. It was meant to be a light late afternoon snack with sandwiches, scones and pastries. The last time I was here, I was too early for the 'Afternoon Tea by the Sea' so I took it to my full advantage on this occasion.

An assortment of pastries: Pain au Chocolate, Raisin Danish, Chocolate and Custard pies 

How do I survive without a bowl of shoestring fries?

Really lovely soda bread with butter

Toasted Tuna sandwiches (and Mrs W enjoying her Seafood Chowder in the background)

Freshly squeezed OJ to quench my thirst

and not to forget my staple drink with a slice of fresh lemon

But the best of all cakes (bar my all-time favourite Red Velvet) is Mummy Nana's Rainbow cake which was so moist and so sinful!

Never mind the over-exposed ladies in black but hail the lady in blue, Mrs J, who was the much-commended hostess who successfully executed her eldest's 5th birthday party without her dear husband around. well done, you!
